Hello! My name is Alexis Zhou, and I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Linguistics at Purdue University.
My recent research explores the use of different material types for training second language pronunciation features, such as tone in Mandarin and pitch accent in Japanese. My secondary line of research is focused on quantitative methods for comparing L1 and L2 acoustic datasets. I am a member of the Purdue Experimental Phonetics and Phonology Lab, directed by Dr. Olga Dmitrieva, and the Purdue Bilingualism Lab, directed by Dr. Daniel J. Olson.
